The Fence is Finished
Here are a few pictures of last week's work on the fence-beautiful job Mark and Grant! Now I can do a little landscaping and the west end of the house will look finished- I think another climbing rose on the south end of the fence where the deer can't get to it would be very pretty. Now to decide which one!
The last pic is the red climbing rose Dortmond with Multi-Blue Climatis on the garden shed as seen through the kitchen window.
Leland felt well enough yesterday to help out with the fence project yesterday afternooon, but has been pretty tired today. Today has been a quiet restful Sabbath after a very busy week. Tomorrow I will drive Mark and Grant to Hood River and give "the boys" back to Tina who will meet us there. It has been really special to have them here. I had forgotten how much a 14-almost-15 year old can eat!

Fences
Thursday, June 21, 2012
A whole week has passed very quickly since I last posted
here. Last weekend all the kids were
here for Father’s Day. We had a great
time with them, and then everyone but Mark and Grant had to leave. They stayed
for the week, and have been working very hard building the fence at the end of
the house which Leland was going to do this summer. They have done a beautiful job and the only
thing left to do is put on the top decorative paneling. Then the stain. I will probably do the staining myself, as
they will not have time before they need to go home. This will make that end of
the house look much more finished and make it clear that our bedroom sliding
door is not the front door : ).
Leland has had a fairly good week, with the exception of
yesterday, which was difficult. By a
fairly good day I mean he has enough
energy to do a small chore or two outdoors and is able to watch one of his
programs on DVD. On the bad days, he
does not even have that much energy. This feels as though it is stretching out
a long time, but we have to keep reminding ourselves that we are only 10 weeks into a 20 week program when we
should be able to get an objective measurement of progress made and either stay on the present course, or make any necessary alterations.

Minerals and Toxic Metals
Minerals and Toxic Metals
Mercury causes retention of copper and zinc. Excess copper then causes hormone, blood and
liver disruption, lower iron levels, impairs excretion of other toxic
substances and causes inflammatory processes.
Very complex interactions happen inside our bodies, most of which we
never realize unless we become sick. Truly we are “fearfully and wonderfully
made”

Walking Bambi and F I R
Walking Bambi and F I R
Later on his afternoon walk (I was planting flowers)
"Bambi" again followed Leland the whole way.
One of the neighbors was talking to Leland about it, and they decided
Bambi was probably raised by humans and is lonely. While they were talking, “Bambi”
stood right there while the neighbor petted him.
We have added Far Infra Red as an adjunctive treatment to
Leland’s regimen. Far Infra Red is part
of the sunlight spectrum, developed by NASA for the astronaut program and has
been used for decades in Japan and Germany as a healing modality for several
diseases, including cancer. Dr. D
recommended it, and research showed us as usual, he is correct and on the
cutting edge, so we ordered one. It arrived on Thursday, and we assembled it on
Friday-a good job done, and not too awfully hard, but a little too much for
Leland right now as he was really exhausted when we finished. I wanted to ask someone for help but he
insisted he could do it with my help. We
won’t make that mistake again! He recovered well though, and we are confident
this will be a real asset to his healing program as Dr D advised.
Far Infra Red Rays are healing and penetrating and
function by warming the deeper tissues without heating the air to the degree
that a traditional sauna does. There is much research on Thermotherapy which is
ongoing showing real promise that heat does indeed destroy cancer cells. This was first noticed in the 1800s by a
couple of doctors tending cancer
patients who developed fevers from another source, and after recovery from the
fever, were cured of the cancers. They then deliberately experimented with exposing
cancer patients to infection in order to bring on a fever and hopefully a
cure-sometimes successful and sometimes not.
A special Thank you to Yvonne and David along with Galen who came over this am and worked on splitting our winter wood. They did about half the pile, and left the splitter, so we know they will be back. What a blessing this is! Reminds me of the song "Great is Thy Faithfulness", especially the line that says "All I have needed, Thy Hand has provided." We could not see all that God would provide through the loving service of friends and family, too much to mention every thing here, but a graphic reminder that truely, we do not need to worry about anything, for He will see to it that we have all that we need! It is an entirely new lesson for us, as we have always been able to do what we needed to have done ourselves, and help others besides.

Five Shirts and Strawberries
Five Shirts and Strawberries
“Eileen, can you get up and help me?” I jerked awake, and
there was poor Leland dripping wet in his own sweat, his side of the bed
soaked. We changed the sheets, put a
draw sheet on and a towel over his pillow, and went back to bed. During the rest of the night this happened
several times, although not quite to the extent as the first one. He ended up using 5 T shirts, two towels, 3
sheets, all which are in the washing machine.
I am very thankful for a washing machine! This has happened several other times, although
a three shirt night has been more standard.
According to Dr. D, this is all good, toxins are being removed, so we
are thankful for that also.
A big thank you to Pat-next-door for a bag of lettuce and kale out of her organic
garden. And to Dolly and Stanton, the early
organic greenhouse strawberries were delicious, and very much enjoyed by both
of us. Especially nice since Leland has been struggling with nausea, and sometimes
not able to eat much. Today we will use the chard, looking forward to that too!
Also, a big thank you to those who continue to pray for
us, and send little notes, you are appreciated more than we can say.
We are thankful for simple natural things like ginger,
which seems to be quite effective.
And finally this profound paraphrase from Jesus Calling page 163:
Welcome challenging
times as opportunities to trust Me. You
have Me beside you and My Spirit within you, so no set of circumstances is too
much for you to handle. When the path
before you is dotted with difficulties, beware of measuring your strength
against those challenges. That
calculation is certain to riddle you with anxiety. Without Me, you wouldn’t make it past the
first hurdle!
The way to walk
through demanding days is to grip My hand tightly and stay in close
communication with Me. Let your thoughts
and spoken words be richly flavored with trust and thankfulness. Regardless of the day’s problems, I can keep
you in perfect Peace as you stay close to Me.

A Quiet Sabbath & NFE #3

A Quiet Sabbath
As I posted on Tuesday,
this week was much better than last week.
I had to go to Portland for some dental work and shopping, and although
Leland was better, he was not up to that.
We decided what he should eat for the 2 days I would be gone, and I made sure everything was ready for
him to pull out of the fridge before I left.
He did fine, and I was able to accomplish everything we needed.
Today was a very quiet
day. We went to church this morning,
which was good, then came home to have lunch, a walk and a nap, followed by
another walk and reading. Leland has not felt very lively today, nausea
has been his constant companion. We
tried putting fresh ginger in his juice yesterday, and that seemed to help
quite a bit, but not today. Perhaps
there was not enough, will try a little more tomorrow and see if that helps. We
are not able to predict how he will feel from one day to the next, so most
activities outside of the healing regimen have to be spur of the moment.
He is a good patient, does
not complain or feel sorry for himself, and is very cooperative with his treatments,
which makes all of this much easier for me.
Notes From the Experts #3
Lee Euler, Medical Journalist
”Regular, moderate exercise along with
a lowfat,
high-fiber diet can slow prostate
cancer.
According to research at UCLA’s Jonsson
Cancer
Center and the university’s Department
of
Physiological Science, walking exercise
plus a
sensible diet slowed prostate cancer
growth up to
30 PERCENT in just eleven days.
During the study, men walked at a quick
pace
for 30 to 60 minutes, four to five
times a week
and at a slower pace for 40 to 60
minutes once
or twice a week. The diet was low-fat
(10 percent
fat calories), moderate protein (15-20
percent
protein from non-animal sources and
some fish
and poultry) and included many
vegetables,
fruits, whole grains and legumes (70-
75
percent)”.34
We have been at this for about 7 weeks
now (except for the fish and poultry), so hopefully this approach along with
the other supplements and anti-cancer substances has kicked in! In July there will be some more blood work
done, and perhaps we will have some objective measurement of progress at that
time.
